Blog Ideas; Examples

Are you stumped on what to write about in your blog? In addition to responding to things we do in class, or presentations that I make, or films that we watch, etc. etc. ...

• You should be blogging about each project you're working on... both in progress and after completion.

• A couple of the projects have had specific questions to answer in your blog – so review the assignment sheets and go from there.

• You can write responses to any posts I've made or any links that I have posted in the class blog – do your own take on the subject in your blog!

• Be observant of what you see around you, and how graphic design is a part of our daily lives. Did you see a poster you like? A brochure? Some bad typography? Write about it in your blog (and include photos if you can)!

• Do some research about graphic design on your own and tell us about your findings!

• Go to the library and find some books about design. Read (or at least skim) them, and tell us if you think they are worth having a look at.

• Pick a graphic designer (contemporary or historical), and write about him or her!

• Pick a typeface (probably historical is best) and tell us everything you can find out about it.

This list could go on and on and on, but hopefully will get your jumpstarted if you have been stuck on what to write about. Remember, you don't want to leave all your blog writing until the last minute!

Feel free to share some of your ideas here, too. I hope that this has been helpful!

I'd also like for you to have a look at a few blogs from the past semester that I feel are exemplary. Note the length of the posts, the thoughtfulness of the writing, and the inclusion of images!
